Computer vision

Azriel Rosenfeld (February 19, 1931 - February 22, 2004) - american scientist in the field of image processing. He got Ph.D. (dissertation: Learning Structural Descriptions from Examples) from Columbia University in 1957.

He was (co-)author and editor of several books, including:

  • Picture Processing by Computer, Academic-Press, New York, 1969 (first textbook about computer vision);
  • A. Rosenfeld and А. С. Как, Digital Picture Processing, Academic Press, New York, 1976; 2nd ed. (2 vols.), 1982.
  • Picture Languages, Academic Press, New York, 1979.

He was famous by releasing annual reviews of important articles in computer vision.
